Condition surveys of six leisure and arts sites, including four leisure centres, the National Centre for Craft and Design and Whisby Natural World.
The condition surveys were undertaken as part of a pre-procurement exercise to establish affordability and to provide companies bidding to operate the leisure facilities with consistent and reliable information on which to prepare their tenders.
The instruction included specialist surveys of the mechanical and electrical installations and the gym equipment and sports surfaces.
Added Value:
- Set Square presented a 20 year costed forward works report which was used by SLC, leisure consultants, to advise on affordability and to procure tenders for a new operating contract.
- The same team of surveyors, services engineers, sports surfaces specialist and gymnasium equipment specialists were used to survey all the facilities over a number of days thereby ensuring familiarity, consistency and uniformity of approach.
- The surveys provided confidence to immediately procure a new operator contract for four of the facilities, however one facility required further review due to the need for investment to address condition issues highlighted in Set Square’s reports.
